A Tuross Head RFS brigade spokesperson said members were active at 5.30am cordoning off the remains of a beach fire near "Everest", the rocks that separate the main beach from the caravan park beach.
"The fire is in the middle of the path and from the volume of wood burnt, the sand will be incandescent to quite a depth," the spokesperson said.
The area now cordoned off would be a "serious burns risk" to beachgoers for at least 24 hours.
"It's beyond hose reach for our trucks," the spokesperson said.
"We also removed bottles and cans thrown into the fire.
"We can assume there will be more in there, adding broken glass to the risk."
The brigade reminded the public that beach fires were not permitted anywhere in the Eurobodalla Shire.
"It shouldn't need saying that empty bottles, cans and rubbish have no place here," the spokesperson said.
