Winners were decided by Lucky Rinks and were John Voytas and John McNamara (skip) who had a very close game in the first half where they were all square at 12 all after 17 ends before they attacked the jack to take their match 25 to 14 against Mick Cavic and Peter Jones (skip). Second place went to Peter Hawker, Barry Goodwin and Peter Robson (skip) who bolted out of the blocks to lead 15 to nil after six ends before Scott Kennedy, Tony Cobcroft and Jon King (skip) came back strongly to trail 14 to 17 after 14 ends. January 19: It was a lovely day for social bowls, sunny with a good cross breeze. 'Lowest winning margin' was drawn to select the day's winners. A very close game was played on rink 4 where Sue Sansom, Lorraine Mitchell and Jean Vos (skip) were on equal scores on several occasions including the last end against Betty Greenshields, Clare Cork and Marg Naylor (skip). A countback declared Marg's team the winners, having won more ends. A good game! Sue Sansom won the meat raffle, thank you to Rapley and Son. Heather McGourty celebrated a special birthday, hope you enjoyed your day.
Novice Singles - Contested on Thursday and Friday, the novice singles is a round robin event between our newer bowlers and four competitors played three games each. Alison Maloney got off to a good start with wins against Julie Smith and Sue Sansom. On Friday Alison continued bowling well to claim the game against our promising junior bowler, Ella Breust. Winning the Novice Singles competition with 3 wins, Alison Maloney played consistently good bowls, well done. Julie Smith was runner-up winning two games. Congratulations ladies, a great competition. We were saddened to hear of the passing of one of Narooma's great characters and club man in Jim Grant. Vale Jim and thanks for the sponsorship, memories and maybe a few of your "jokes". Thanks all who bowled mixed games in the Christmas/New Year break: 32 Monday bowlers, again well organised by the Adams Family boy Ken and the LWM was the game decider - those on 2 in the Goose and BIL Paul Saunders, from runners-up on 9 in Pommie Pete, Bruce Cover-Outs and Barry Arminter. VP Pete scored the first resting toucher. The lucky losing team on rink 12 was Snoopy Leigh, Ron Heaven-less while the raffle winners were Snoopy, Peter Her-hen and Emberley Footprint; 24 bowlers got underway on Thursday in fine conditions with the L-Rentacar man Garry issuing the cards and the HWM marble came out for the winners on 17 in Rabbits Ken, Graham or Brett and Gary Rum-back Aine from the runners-up on 6 in Chef Keith, the other Flying Pete and Punter Alan. Shark Finn scored the first resting toucher. The wrong bias sinners of the day were Illya and Dine-back Brooker while the raffle well organised by the Kath Whisky-An had winners in herself, Brett (again) and Ian East-Off. Sad to hear Cobber Dudley was in Moruya Hospital. Warm conditions tempered by the southerly change saw 24 twilight bowlers expertly organised by Brett. Buzz Saw and Micko were winners. Those aged 12 and older welcome on Fridays for 2 hours of fun bowls. Sign on under the notice board. Pairs format (but single entries accepted), 5.30pm, registration by 4.30pm.
