The cable for the spare wheel winch can be weakened and snap when used under certain conditions (extreme dirt/dust exposure) leaving the spare wheel only secured by a secondary securing strap, a statement from Product Safety Australia reads.
"If the spare wheel detaches, this may result in an accident and injury or death to other road users," the statement says.
The 19,936 impacted vehicles were sold between August 2016 and March 2019.
