Former Narooma Devil Ratu Rotavisoro now with Ipswich Jets

A former Narooma Devil has forced his way into Queensland's highest rugby league competition, and is certainly turning heads.

Fijian Ratu Rotavisoro played one season with the Devils in 2019, and impressed at fullback despite a bad shoulder injury during the year.

He then moved to Queensland and played in Brisbane Rugby League's first-grade competition with the Wynnum-Manly Seagulls.

The Seagulls won the premiership in 2020 with Rotavisoro on the wing, and his impressive individual performances caught the eyes of recruiters at the Ipswich Jets.

Rotavisoro was handed his debut in the Queensland Cup two weekends ago, and was named in the competition's Team of the Week by QRL media after scoring two tries against the Central Queensland Capras.

He also had two line breaks, two tackle busts, and 154 running metres in a near best-on-ground performance.

Tegan Mundy, who put Ratu up in her Dalmeny home while he was playing with the Devils, said on Facebook she was "incredibly proud" of him before his debut game.

"You sacrificed so much in coming to our little home two years ago, but you have never looked back," she wrote.

"You haven't seen your family in two years, you've sat in Australia while your family has faced cyclones, you've worked countless jobs to support your family, but you persevered, you were committed, and you continued to work hard for them.
