Margaret who immigrated from Hartwood, Scotland to Australia with her friend Nancy when she was 18 has spent the last week celebrating at a number of events held in her honour including a huge surprise birthday party luncheon at Club Narooma on Friday.
Mr McCarthy was joined by her son Shane and daughter-in-law Jodie, however her daughter Gail was in lockdown in Melbourne and unable to attend.
The surprise party on Friday was organised by Margaret's friends Janet McMahon, Dorothy Rule and Sharon Dalgleish as well as a whole lot more surprises throughout the week.
"We organised a Facetime hookup with Margaret's dear friend Joyce on Thursday which was a big surprise, she had a telephone chat with her friend Nancy and a brand new recliner rocker was delivered on Thursday afternoon," Ms Dalgleish said.
"Friday was the surprise party and then we organised a special luncheon at Bodalla Bowling Club's Asian restaurant on Sunday," she said.
Margaret met her husband Bill McCarthy in Melbourne and they were married in 1951. They had two children, a daughter Gail and a son Shane. Margaret now has five grandchildren and eight and a bit great grandchildren.
The family moved to Narooma in 1986.
"It started off as a trip around Australia for the family," Margaret said. "But we got to Narooma and stayed there.
"It's been a wonderful birthday and I would like to thank everyone so much for helping me celebrate, it's been wonderful," she said.
