"Then, at last on Thursday, the weather was ideal for a walk at Pedro Point," Dalmeny Narooma Bushwalkers spokesperson, Jan Thomas said.
"Maggie Finch led 16 walkers on an interesting 10km bushwalk around Pedro Point area with beach sections to start and finish the walk, followed by a wander along Congo Creek, past Pedro Swamp and through all the tall coastal trees including Banksia's and Burrawangs.
"On the beach they had a nice lunch, then back to the cars where the walkers thanked Maggie for the enjoyable walk," Ms Thomas said.
With predicted strong SW winds on Saturday, walk leader Jo Jean-Mairet decided to cancel the walk planned for Rixons Road, inland west from Buckeridge Lookout and put on something coastal instead.
"Six keen walkers turned up at the meeting point at George Noble Park, with the wind gusting, clouds gathering, the walkers headed for Mummaga Lake around the back of Dalmeny," Ms Thomas said.
"Swans, pelicans were on the back of the lake and at times the walkers were out of the wind. Walking around the edge of lake, coming back via pathways, roads, they walked towards the Industrial Area at Dalmeny, then they walked behind the houses making their way to Duesbury Road, using a new track that a walker had found on a previous walk.
"Sharing knowledge through these tracks, another walk leader Maggie Finch, helped Jo lead the way.
"On reaching the coast the walkers were very keen to see the big surf which was predicted. They were not disappointed, it was huge.
"The decision where to have lunch out of the wind, found the walkers making their way around the headland to almost at Mummaga Lake entrance opposite the caravan park, climbing down to the rocks wedged in from the wind, where they had a lovely lunch watching the surfers off Dalmeny Beach, with the wind howling overhead.
"From here it was a short walk along the cycle path/walkway to the cars, where everyone thanked Jo for the lovely easy walk of 11km."
