The Broulee, Batemans Bay, Mogo and Moruya Rural Fire Service brigades were called to the scene around 4pm on Saturday, July 17.

The property owner worked alongside the crews to battle the blaze and machinery was also brought in to separate the wood.

South Coast RFS Commander John Cullen said four crews were called to help supply enough water to battle the blaze which took four hours to extinguish.

"The logs caught on fire from a previous burn on the property and because they were all stacked it made difficult to extinguish and thus the need for extra brigades there for water," he said.

"All four brigades worked closely with the property owner to salvage as much timber as possible."

Mr Cullen said the accident was a reminder to all property owners to be cautious about planned burns, even during winter.

"It's been a few weeks since we've had rain so there are areas that are drier at the moment," he said.

"Just keep an eye on the weather because we're getting into a windier part of the year where it can be variable and whip up quickly."

Property owners were reminded to notify the RFS of any planned burns via the website, and to also stay with the fire at all times to manage it.
