The Goulburn trainer has two chances in the $27,000 feature event, with Rent A Rock and My Blue Jeans set to go around in the 1425m race, and while he conceded it has been a tough period for the stable, Williams was looking forward to racing on a rare good four surface.
"Both haven't liked the wet tracks, and the track will be a (good) four I would imagine, which should suit both of them well," Williams said.
Moruya is forecast to have a belter of a day, and with spring around the corner, Williams said it could be the perfect meeting to land his first winner since April.
"There are two flip sides to it all; when you have a stable full of wet trackers, that's all you want," Williams laughed.
"A majority of my horses, they don't mind a bit of cut in the ground, but not the heavy tracks we have had lately.
"I'm looking forward to dryer tracks and a bit of spring. I think the forecast is 19 or 20 degrees and that coastal weather will certainly give the horses a spring in their step."
Rent A Rock, a winner four times from 20 starts, will be first-up after a 38-week layoff and Jess Taylor has been booked for the ride.
"He is just a horse that needs a bit of time, and he hasn't liked the wet tracks," Williams said.
"His work has been terrible to be honest but that is because he is working on very wet tracks, but he had a good barrier trial at Moruya that he seems to have come through."
Williams believes My Blue Jeans was his best chance in the event, with the seven-time winner drawing gate two, while two-kilogram claiming apprentice Amy McLucas has been booked for the ride.
"I think he is perhaps a better chance," Williams said.
"His run the other day was full of merit, but he is another one that hasn't been handling the wet.
"We backed off with him, then Moruya came up and we ran him the other day, and he was quite under the done but the run was a good pass mark and stepping up in distance will suit him, plus he has a good gate, and this is a slightly easier race."
The Tomakin Club South Coast Clubs Cup has attracted a solid field of South East and Canberra-based gallopers and highlights a strong seven-race-program.
The first race is at 12.55pm and gates and the member's room open at 11.30am.
Gates are still open to the public, although the club will not allow anyone to enter from local government areas (LGA) of concern as per the NSW health website.
