In September, GRNSW secured one of the eight slots in the sport's newest event at The Meadows in Melbourne on December 18.
The event is similar to thoroughbred racing's Everest with slot holders selecting a runner to represent them in the race.
The reason GRNSW became involved in the event was to help expand and widen the audience, and to be innovative, and they believe the process which has been decided upon ticks both of those boxes.
To help engage the public - not only fans of greyhound racing - GRNSW will assemble a list of 10 of the State's leading greyhounds and will then hand the selection process over to the general public, who will vote on which dog will take the GRNSW slot.
The 10 greyhounds will comprise of the five winners of the most recent Group racing events in NSW - Zipping Kyrgios (Group 2 Black Top), Light And Lily (Group 1 Peter Mosman), Bandit Ned (Group 1 Vic Peters), Wow (Group 3 Goulburn Cup) and Cash View (Group 2 Lismore Cup), with the remaining five greyhounds selected by a panel of experts.
Voting will commence next month, and one lucky member of the public will have the chance to win $50,000 if the GRNSW greyhound takes out the Phoenix.
