Social bowls winners' circle
Finally, back to bowls on Wednesday and we had 43 bowlers making up six rinks of triples and a rink of fours. Winners were decided by Highest Winning Score and this week the winners were Dennis Maggs, Les Waldock and Col Armstrong (skip) who were in terrific form to lead 18 to eight after 11 ends and continued that form in the second half to take their match, which was also part of the Dixie Dean competition, 29 to 20 against Tony Fryer, Neville Butt and Terry Lewis (skip).
Second place went to Andy Thompson, Darrell Goodridge and Kevin Mitchell (skip) who were ahead 19 to three after 11 ends and withstood a strong challenge from Rex Dunn, Peter Hawker and Peter Murton (skip) to take their Dixie Dean match 26 to 16. John Downie had his eye in early to have the first resting toucher at 12.52, well done John. Thank you to Rapley and Son's Butchery, Narooma Plaza, for their continued support.
On Sunday we had 20 bowlers making two rinks of triples and two rinks of pairs. Winners, decided by Highest Winning Margin, were Pieter Vos and John Downie (skip) who were in charge all the way for a good win against Russell Smith and Ken Burrows (skip).
Second place went to Merrie Downie and Terry Lewis (skip) who were down nine to 12 after 11 ends before they clicked into gear to finish strongly for a 20 to 13 win against Cindy Newell and Edith Brooker (skip).
Club Triples Championship
There was one Triples Championship played on Sunday. Matt Dunn, Keith Pickett and John Breust (skip) played John Voytas, Col Armstrong and Dave Herman (skip). John's team were in top firm early and they bolted out to a 20 to three lead after 15 ends. Dave's team came back strongly to win the next six ends but still trailed 12 to 21 and Matt, Keith and John went on to take the match 23 to 15.
Dixie Dean Competition
In addition to the two matches listed above there were three other Dixie Dean matches played on Wednesday. John Voytas, Shorty Smart and Tony Palmer (skip) led 13 to nine after 11 ends and 21 to 13 after 16 ends before they had to repel a flying finish from Don Caldwell, Neville Cork and Greg Riley (skip) to take their match 21 to 18. Peter Robson, Peter Dillon and Greg Ryan (skip) played some top bowls to lead 11 to seven after 11 ends and continued on for a 19 to 14 win against Barry Goodwin, Rod Holman and Peter Jones (skip).
The other match was between Graham Cummins, Keith Pickett and John Scott (skip) and Warren Bender, John Downie and Jeremy Seaton (skip). The match was tight early with Jeremy's team ahead 10 to eight after 13 ends before John's team picked up the next five ends to draw away to a 24 to 13 win.

Club Dalmeny
The weather turned itself on again for the good crowd of 36 bowlers circled up by Shark Finn who continued the trend of secret ends deciding the winners on 13 in Pat, Ron, Jim or Harold, Tom's son Ken and the KV bloke again from the runners-up on 10 in a returning Chef Keith, welcome back mate, the other Goose, Pete and Punter Alan. Gospeller Bob scored the first resting toucher but the $208 jackpot was not won while the lucky losers on rink five were Russ L Jones, First bloke's boy Ken and Garry L-Rentacar. Our Pat, Ron, the Spade and the Pom all put in for the wrong bias jar while the winning raffle tickets vended by Peter Rum-back 100 for the winners in Nod-back Heaven-less (twice) kindly sending it round again for Funny Veg-on West-off and the Rustler.
Sadly our president Keith's return was short lived and we all hope this latest complication won't keep him away for too long.
Thursday's fine weather saw 23 bowlers with the Goose enjoying being a swinger and scraped together by the Spade where, just for a change the lowest winning margin decided the winners on two in the Goose, Peter Rum-back 100 and gospeller Bob from the runners-up on three in Grey-Pork Y-den, Dine-back Streamer and Towelling Lewis. Our Macedonian Illya scored the only resting toucher and the $367 jackpot didn't go off. The wrong bias sinners included the Spade (2), the Goose and Ben or Kennie with the Sonny-L Bad-rim selling the raffle tickets to winners including naturally herself, Ken and Account Dray-wrong.
Friday's hot winds had cooled down thankfully for the six regular twilight bowlers including a newby in Kath's son Went-Ron Whisky Ann who was lucky enough being among the winners with Sharon Orless and the Goose. Due to the small number of players your organ-grinder gratefully accepted all players agreeing to donate their winnings back into the bag to help with future prize monies and end of season function and our numbers will hopefully increase when similar Friday games are completed.
Next week, all double-vaxed players over the age of 12, get yourselves signed-in by Friday 4.45pm for a 5.30 start of two-hours of fun, pairs bowls with prizes for winners and runners-up, depending on numbers and for the first resting toucher.
The semi-final of the mixed pairs Championship game 1 had Gram-back Joiner and the Macedonian Illya up against Tap-back Woof-Lam and B-Harold Lymbery who shot away to lead 9/1 on end 3 which was cut back to 9/7 by end five before they got back into stride to lead 21/7 at end 12 where once again Marg and Illya cut back their lead to 21/13 which was sadly short lived as Pat and Barry pulled away to an unbeatable lead 30/14 at the 20th end.
In game 2 the Snah-back N couple of Chris and Finn were matched against Kath Whiskey-Anne and Buzz Saw and shot away to lead 6/1 after seven ends but their opposition decided to start playing and led 13/6 at the 13th end but stopped and Chris and Finn led14/13 at the19th before Kath and Brad scored a four on end 20 which could not be bettered by a two on end 21 for a close fought 17/16 win in a friendly game between two evenly matched pairs. Come along and support our best pairs in what will be an exciting final next week.
Please note that the men's 100-up comp sign-on sheet is out for all interested players.
Narooma Women's Bowling Club
Social bowls was called off again on October 19 due to rain, however last Tuesday was a beautiful, sunny day for the contingent of ladies looking forward to 'getting out there again'.
Two games of triples and two rinks of pairs enjoyed the morning, an extra bonus was competing for the prizes on the ninth end. Winner for the day was the team with the lowest winning margin, Sue Waldock, Leila Gosper and Pam Grant (skip) who combined well to win by two shots against Heather McGourty, Jan Rapkins and Jean Vos (skip).
Jean's team won 10 of the 18 ends including the last four, but Pam's girls won the day and the prize-money. Second place went to Jenny Coulson and Vicki Herman (skip) with a four shot margin against Cindy Newell and Gail Palmer (skip). Marg Naylor won the meat raffle and Janet Murphy was the lucky 50Club winner. Thanks to Rapleys Plaza Meats for their support.
