'Tara', located at 190 Coolangatta Road, Berry is due to be auctioned on November 28.

It sprawls across 150 hectares (370 acres) of land, and is reportedly the largest landholding in Berry to hit the market in decades.

The home is a three-bedroom original condition farmhouse.

The home offers potential for a contemporary renovation and extension or a new luxury family residence (subject to council approval).

The property also offers 360-degree views over undulating rural countryside, mountains and ocean views from Gerroa to Greenwell Point and the northern headland of Jervis Bay.

The property was previously used as a cattle farm running Angus beef cattle, and is ideal for livestock with cattle yards, two dams and three cattle troughs supplied by town water.

It is primarily zoned RU1 Primary Production, as well as E2 Environmental Conservation (the latter covering the about 30 hectares of wetlands), and may be subdivided with minimum lot sizes of 40 hectares (subject to council approval).

The property has remained in the same family for nearly a century.

Family spokesperson Andrew Moon's grandfather, Frank White acquired the property in the late 1920s.

At the time it was about a thousand acres and extended into what is now Shoalhaven Heads.

The family, who were dairy farmers, utilised the property for that purpose for several decades.

Mr Moon's grandparents both died in the 1970s, and his parents Jack and Brigid bought the property several years later.

"Originally we had racehorses there in the late '70s and early '80s, and Angus cattle from the '80s onwards," Mr Moon said.

"Before my parents purchased it in the late 1970s, it had been a dairy farm since the 1920s.

"The property is named after Mum and Dad's favourite movie Gone With The Wind, as it was the name of the property in that movie."

Mr Moon's parents would often split their time between Sydney and Berry.

His mother died last year, and the property has been utilised as a weekender for the family in recent years.

'Coomenderry', which comprised about three-quarters of the original thousand-acre property, was sold off in the late 1970s.

Mr Moon said the mountain and ocean views were among the property's standout features.

"I love the tranquillity of it as well - it's peaceful and quiet," he said.

Sydney-based Mr Moon said they were listing the property for sale as it wasn't practical for him and the other six siblings to continue to manage it.

"I'll be sad to part with it - all of the siblings will be," he said.

Selling agent, Tim McGoldrick from Elders Real Estate Berry said taking a property like 'Tara' to the market was a "privilege".

"(It's been) held by the same family for generations and being the largest land holdings to hit the market in Berry in decades is an opportunity that doesn't come around very often," he said.

"It's an ideal opportunity for the next family to own for generations too."
