However, things often are not so good and men struggle in silence.

A new grassroots community, allowing men to meet with like minded men in a safe environment is sweeping the country.

The Men's Table creates a unique, safe environment for men to share openly about their lives, their challenges, their highs and lows.

A special 'Entree night', where men can find out about The Men's Table, will be held in Bodalla on Wednesday, December 8 at the Bodalla Arms Hotel.

There has never been a better time to belong to a community and that's what The Men's Table is - it's all about men serving men.

The first Men's Table (MT1) began in 2011 with 12 men who have met once a month for dinner and ever since. It is now growing to become a national charity.

The group's vision is 'healthy men, healthy masculinity and healthy communities'.

Men's Tables have been established in Kangaroo Valley in October and in Milton in June. A Men's Table began operating in Berry in December 2019.

Now, moves are afoot to establish a Men's Table in Bodalla.

The Bodalla entree, where men can find out if The Men's Table is for them, will be held December 8 from 6:30-9pm in a private room of the Bodalla pub.

Michael Collins, of The Men's Table In the Kitchen, said there are many reasons men contact the group.

"Some are just curious, others are really struggling, and many are wanting to connect with other men in a trusted, non-judgemental place to listen, talk and share," he said.

"It's healthy to show emotion and share feelings. Yet for many men in their relationships with other blokes, the talk is mostly about 'footy and sh*t'.

"Many men look for a greater sense of belonging and connection."

Mr Collins said The Men's Table is a safe place "to share and be heard in a confidential and non-judgemental environment".

"Men learn to listen, talk, share openly and how to serve other men, modelling healthy versions of masculinity," he said.

"The Men's Table enables adult men to meet on a monthly basis with the same group of men to share a meal and talk openly about their feelings, and the highs and lows that are impacting their lives and well-being.

"Membership is free. Your commitment is to attend a minimum of nine monthly meetings per year and your outlay is just the cost of a meal and a drink."

Men are encouraged to register to come along and experience the benefits that hundreds of men across the country enjoy every month.

There is also a Men's Table Entree being held in Nowra on Thursday, December 9 at the Postman's Tavern.

Mr Collins said there are also plans to possibly establish Men's Tables at North Nowra and the Basin area.

"Locally we are working with Resilience NSW, Shoalhaven City Council and St Vincent de Paul Society," he said.

"If we find an area that already has a Men's Table established is receiving a growing number of requests, we can simply start a second or third group in that area as required," he said.

"Even in the challenging COVID conditions the groups still managed to meet - arranging Zoom gatherings."
