Aidan Williams, who has called Sapphire Coast Kart Club his home track for six years, has blown the Premier State Cup in Newcastle out of the water and claimed NSW state champion in his Ka4 Jnr light class.

Aidan, 13, lives in Moruya and only just stepped out of the cadet class and into the junior category this year.
He was classified as "one to watch" by Sapphire Coast Kart Club secretary Janifer Hutchinson at the club's 15th annual Sapphire Cup race meeting at the Frogs Hollow circuit south of Bega on November 5, 6, and 7.
The Newcastle race meet for the Premier State Cup was held on November 27 and 28 and the conditions were less than ideal with heavy rain on Saturday and scattered showers on Sunday.
The cup consisted of three rounds of a points-based series.
Round one was held earlier in the year before COVID lockdowns struck at Sapphire Coast Kart Club where Aidan won all heats and the final to give him a good lead.
Aidan and his family travelled to Newcastle at the weekend to complete rounds two and three.
Round two was held on Saturday in very wet conditions where Aidan had some good battles with some hard competition and ended up placing third for the day.
Aidan's mother Nicole Thomas said the races gave her, "a few mini heart attacks" due to some, "brave and daring overtakes".
On Sunday during round three the conditions were somewhat better with scattered showers, but dryer racing conditions for the final round.
Ms Thomas said the final race was really close and fast-paced.
"He found found himself in the lead off the start but fell back to second over the duration of the final race, but ended up second for the day," she said.
On completion of the third round Aidan had gained enough points to be awarded the prestigious blue plate, NSW State Champion for Ka4 Jnr Light.
Aidan drives a PCR chassis powered by a Warped race engine. His father, Chadd Williams, runs Warped Race Engines and also doubles as his pit crew and engine builder.
