After 26 years of coiffing the hair of clients from all over, hairdresser Jenny Van Oort is closing her Bodalla Hairwaves salon and retiring on Friday, January 28.

Jenny plans on closing the doors of her hairdressing salon, Bodalla Hairwaves and retire on Friday, January 28.

Jenny said she was looking forward to spending more time with her family.

"I'd really like to thank all my customers for their loyalty over the years," she said.

Jenny first opened Bodalla Hairwaves in the town's old butchers shop just over 26 years ago. At first she opened four and a half days a week, before deciding to close on Saturdays.

"When COVID-19 started I went down to three days a week," she said.

One of Jenny's most memorable clients was Allan Ramsey a former journalist and chief political correspondent and Canberra Bureau Chief for the Australian newspaper and later a columnist for the Sydney Morning Herald.

Mr Ramsey was well known for being instrumental in the political demise of then Australian Prime Minister, John Grey Gorton, famously calling him a liar from the parliamentary press gallery.

"Allan travelled from Canberra to Bodalla just to have his hair trimmed at Hairwaves," Jenny said.

"He was without a doubt my most difficult customer ever," she said.

"I have really enjoyed my time at Hairwaves and have had some really memorable moments.

"I wish all my customers the best for the future and thank them for their support over the years," she said.
