Shoalhaven scores twice in Tourism Australia's top 10 best Australian beaches

Murramarang National Park's Depot Beach has been come in as the eighth best beach, followed by Booderee National Park's Murray Beach at number nine.

The Shoalhaven is the only region with more than one beach that made the list.

Tourism Australia said this year's list of winners focused on nature-based locations, quirky spots within easy reach of cities, and the significant cultural value of the coast to First Nations people.

Shoalhaven City Council tourism manager Coralie Bell is thrilled about the announcement, especially after the Shoalhaven ranked 93 out of 100 in a list of the most loved destinations around the world earlier this week.

"Having two beaches in the top 10 for Australia is incredible," she said.

"The region has so many great experiences on offer, not only do we have 100 beautiful beaches, but we have a thriving art and culture scene, great food and wine, and amazing nature-based experiences.

"This announcement comes off the back of consistent efforts over the past five years to promote off-season experiences that showcase the Shoalhaven as a winter destination in order to sustain year-round jobs for the region."
