Kochie's most memorable on-screen gaffes

The finance journalist helmed Sunrise for 21 years and will broadcast his final show on Friday June 9.

He's given Australia some memorable moments in 16,000 hours of television over 5,300 shows including a segment from May 23 that contained a spooky premonition from a deep-fake version of Mr Koch.

"I am going to spend every dollar of the kid's inheritance and I'm going to party for the rest of my life," the computer-generated Mr Koch said.

In a segment called "Barb's Cooking" co-hosts Melissa Doyle and Mr Koch made pancakes on Shrove Tuesday in February 2009.

Mr Koch rhythmically whisked a bowl of pancake batter obscured by a vase of colourful gerberas.

"I'm getting a bit bored, I'm sort of practising on myself. I should say - there's a bowl here," he said, gesturing at his hands.

The co-hosts burst into fits of laughter with Mr Koch saying "that did look a bit funny".

In 2010, Mr Koch slipped a Saturday Night Live (SNL) skit into the breakfast program saying he'd seen the ad on The Morning Show.

The SNL skit is a horny mock-advertisement for a real product called the "Shake Weight".

Co-hosts Samantha Armytage and Mr Koch experienced the stimulating "dynamic inertia" in the studio.

This gaffe comes from the whole newsroom. The "usually professional" newsreaders laughed through a segment discussing an international crime in 2010.

Two women were arrested at a British airport on suspicion of trying to smuggle a dead relative onto a flight bound for Germany and Mr Koch couldn't resist a "Weekend at Bernie's" reference.

Co-host Melissa Doyle put her handbag beside the on-set couch during a segment called "our bags are getting bigger" and Mr Koch welcomed the chance to fossick around inside.

Mr Koch inevitably found a tin of tampons in a gag reminiscent of Mary Poppins' carpet bag.

"I thought it was more breath mints," he said.
