Pop superstar Taylor Swift has swept the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards at a star-studded ceremony.

Swift scooped nine of her 11 nominations, the most of any artist on the night, including the video, artist, album and song of the year awards.
Her self-directed music video Anti-Hero also picked up best pop video, best direction, cinematography and visual effects.
Topping it off was a show of the summer award for the record-breaking Eras Tour which heads down under in February 2024.
It's back-to-back wins for Swift who also took out video of the year in 2022 for her 15-minute short film All Too Well.
The awards drew the biggest stars and celebs of the music industry to honour the best music videos of the past year.
An all-female Artist of the Year category featured for the first time in the awards' 40-year history after it ditched gender-specific categories in 2017.
This year's star-studded nominations ranged from music industry icons such as Beyonce and Shakira, to 35 first-time nominees.
Two Australians were part of the ceremony, Bang Chan and Felix who are members of South Korean boy band Stray Kids.
The group won best K-Pop music video and performed S-Class live at the awards.
Shakira has been bestowed the top honour in recognition of lifetime achievement, the MTV Video Vanguard Award, as the most-viewed female artist on YouTube and with 95 million records sold worldwide.
After performing a medley of her hits including Hips Don't Lie and Whenever, Wherever, the Colombian singer saluted her fans.
"Thank you so much for being my army and helping me fight all my battles," she said.
Rapper and record producer Sean "Diddy" Combs has been honoured with the Global Icon Award, for his "unparalleled career and continued influence that has achieved unrivalled global success in music and beyond".
The annual awards show got underway at 10am on September 13, Sydney time, hosted by Nicki Minaj and featuring performances from music's biggest stars including Demi Lovato, Lil Wayne and Olivia Rodrigo.
