Residents of a suburban road were awoken at midnight on November 6 with a violent encounter between two alleged arsonists and their would-be victim.

Police allege the two arsonists were leaving a property they had attempted to set alight on Northcott Road, Lalor Park in Sydney's west when the homeowner gave chase.
He allegedly collided with the getaway arsonists who were driving a Toyota Prado on Rawsons Road in South Wentworthville.

The Prado's teen passenger allegedly approached the other vehicle, a Mercedes ute, armed with a machete after the car crash.
The 43-year-old man driving the Mercedes reportedly wrestled the machete from the 17-year-old.

He then allegedly attempted to attack the 18-year-old driver of the Prado.
The 18-year-old sustained injuries to his face and hands and was taken to Westmead Hospital where he is in a serious but stable condition.
The 17-year-old was uninjured and has been charged with attempting to damage property using fire or explosives with the intent to injure and reckless wounding.
IN OTHER NEWS:
The 43-year-old sustained superficial machete injuries to his shoulder and leg and has been charged with wounding a person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The incident was believe by police to be linked to another arson fire started in Concord West almost two hours before the fight broke out.
The fire caused significant damage to a Nissan X-trail parked in a residential driveway.
