Narooma Historical Society will celebrate Science Week this year by highlighting National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) research on Barunguba's different bird species.
NPWS ranger and scientist Dr Amy Harris will address the theme of Science Week, Species Survival - More than just sustainability, as it applies to the island on Sunday, August 18, at 1pm in Narooma's Lighthouse Museum in the old visitors' centre.

Changes to the island's vegetation, particularly since European occupation, was identified as possibly the greatest single threat to the island's fauna.
Dr Harris will explain how science and innovation have re-established vegetation to that of a remnant headland, to create an environment more conducive to the survival and thriving of bird populations.
