Trew becomes youngest Aussie gold medallist in history

AUSTRALIAN MEDALLISTS 

GOLD 

* Arisa Trew (women's park skateboarding) - After falling in her first run, 14-year-old Arisa Trew left no prisoners in her third and final run to become the youngest Australian ever to win Olympic gold after scoring 93.18 in the skateboarding park final. 

BRONZE

* Matthew Glaetzer, Leigh Hoffman and Matthew Richardson (men's team sprint cycling) - Australia's time of 41.597 seconds was enough to trump hosts France's 41.993 seconds in their ride-off in front of a raucous home crowd. 

OTHER HEADLINE GOLD MEDALLISTS 

* Cuban wrestler Mijain Lopez has made history as the first athlete to win five Olympic golds in the same event, taking another title in the men's Greco-Roman heavyweight wrestling. 

* American Cole Hocker upstaged defending Olympic champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen and reigning world champ Josh Kerr to win the men's 1500m gold medal. 

WHAT ELSE HAPPENED 

* Australia have broken the men's team pursuit world record, setting up a gold-medal ride-off for the ages against long-time rivals Great Britain. 

* Australia's water polo Stingers have overpowered Greece 9-6 to storm through to the semi-finals of the women's tournament and another step closer to their first Olympic gold since Sydney 2000. 

* Tokyo silver medallists Mariafe Artacho del Solar and Taliqua Clancy have charged into the semi-finals of the women's beach volleyball after beating Switzerland 2-1. 

* Patty Mills has thrilled in his likely last appearance for the Boomers at the Olympics although they fell to Serbia in the men's basketball quarter-final, going down 95-90 in overtime. 

* Five-time Olympian Melissa Wu and high-schooler Ellie Cole battled bravely in the final but missed the podium in the women's 10m platform.

* Australia's Jessica Hull has eased into the women's 1500m semi-finals as she strives to end the nation's barren dozen years on the Olympic athletics track. 

* A Greek athlete has tested positive for banned substances at the Paris Olympics and has been expelled from the athletes' village, according to the Greek Olympic Committee. 

WHO SAID WHAT? 

"When I landed my third run I was so stoked, I knew I landed the run I wanted to land and when I came out I was just waiting for the score, then it popped up and I was like, 'Yes I'm secure on the podium'," 14-year-old Arisa Trew on her history-making gold medal. 

"To get to this point is pretty amazing, and I am so proud to be a part of it. We'll enjoy the win tonight, and then we'll be focused for the semi-final," Stingers coach Bec Rippon on their quarter-final win against Greece. 

"We backed each other in the final ride and it showed the determination and the adaptability that we have," Track cyclist Matthew Richardson on the men's team sprint bronze medal.
