An urgent manhunt for a prisoner who allegedly escaped from a major prison in New South Wales ended on September 20.

The 44-year-old man was last seen on Jamieson Street, Silverwater, around 1.30pm and police officers attached to the Auburn Police Area Command were notified and immediately commenced inquiries to locate him.
Police said that following inquiries, the wanted man was located in Lethbridge Park.
He was taken to Mount Druitt Police Station where charges were expected to be laid, they said on September 20.
NSW Police did not say how the prisoner allegedly escaped from Corrective Services NSW custody in south-west Sydney on September 20, sparking an extensive manhunt for several hours.
The public was also urged not to approach the man during the manhunt.
