The father of a boy killed when a car crashed into a primary school has shared his grief over the loss.

Jack Davey, 11, died and four of his fellow students were injured when a car drove through the Auburn South Primary School fence in Melbourne's east at 2.30pm on October 29.

"Our beautiful son. A shooting star who blessed us for 11 years with love, friendship and kindness," Mick Davey said in a post to social media.

"You were my inspiration and motivation. I cannot comprehend the life ahead without you. My mate, my champ, my Jackie-boi. Godspeed, until we meet again. I love you."

Community support

An outpouring of community support and generosity has raised thousands of dollars for the families of children involved in the horrific car accident.

Almost $140,000 was raised in 22 hours through a fundraiser set up by Jack's basketball team and school community.

"Jack was a valued member of the Titans basketball community, Gladiators football club and keen futsal player," the GoFundMe page said.

The money will go to the Davey family and to "assist them to have time away from work during this heartbreaking time".

The fundraiser, that has received 1,800 donations as of October 31, has raised far more than the original target of $100,000.

One donor said they struggled to comprehend what the family was experiencing saying "if I could donate all the money in the world then I would. Sending lots of love to you all and thinking of precious Jack".

Fundraiser for families of the injured children

A second fundraiser has been established by the Auburn South Primary School Parents' Association for the families of all children involved in the tragic crash.

More than 450 donors have contributed to the fundraiser amassing more than $45,000 in 18 hours.

"Your kindness can make a difference in this time of immense grief and healing," the GoFundMe page said.

"Any contribution is greatly appreciated and all the funds will go directly to those involved to provide support for food, transport [and] home help for the impacted families."

The school principal and parents' association will decide on "the fairest distribution of the funds across the impacted families" on November 13.
