The engines were revving, tries were screeching, and the smell of burning fuel filled the air in Canberra's centre as hundreds of cars cruised down Northbourne Avenue to mark the start of Summernats 37.

More than three hundred vehicles joined the cruise this year with cars and trucks from all eras on display.

Spectators lined the street from Exhibition Park, where the cruise began, but especially in the city centre, where large crowds gathered to get a glimpse of the cars.
Only registered Summernats vehicles are allowed in the cruise, which has been a tradition of the event for many years.
Car lovers have flooded the nation's capital for the annual motoring event, which runs through the weekend.
As well as the city cruise, highlights include the burnout competition, mullet competition, lawnmower racing and the show-and-shine.
