It's easy to overindulge - here are tips to balance it all out.

Just because you can eat your weight in food daily on a cruise ship, doesn't mean you should. But if you do over-imbibe a little, here are some strategies to help balance it all out.
This may sound super obvious, but just don't use the elevators on your cruise. Ever. And don't forget to take advantage of the jogging track if there's one on your ship, even if you just walk, and make it more interesting by doing it at sunrise, sunset or under the stars. Get your step count up further by choosing walking or cycling tours ashore.
Wellness is just as important as exercise, so do book that massage treatment and do chill by the pool. Viking's Nordic Spa steps it up several notches with a selection of hot pools, a cold plunge, steam room, sauna, Snow Grotto and ice bucket challenge. Celebrity, Scenic and Regent Seven Seas are also well-known for their wellness offerings.

If your ship has a gym, don't just walk past it, use it! Many ships have decent gyms with the latest in equipment along with Pilates, yoga, boot camps and all kinds of workouts. Make sure to check if your workout of choice is included or costs extra.
Ships' sports decks will have mini-golf, shuffleboard and the like, and now you can add half-court basketball and pickleball, with the latter appearing on many ships due to its rising popularity. On Cunard's Queen Anne, you can even have a fencing lesson.
You can help your stay-fit cause by not overindulging, and choose a cruise line with healthy options - think Azamara, Oceania and Windstar. Have dessert, but share it with your plus one, and yes, the gelato is great, but don't have one every day. After dinner, hit the dance floor to make up for it. But if all else fails, just go for it! Your overindulgence can be dealt with ... when you get home.
