The paraglider was sailing over Mount Mittamatite, near the NSW and Victoria border, at 3pm on February 3 when conditions forced her to land.
Her wing became stuck in a 10-metre tree and strong winds made her descent to the ground impossible.
Victoria Police's search and rescue squad was deployed from Melbourne on the force's Air Wing.
Four officers were winched to a spot near the paraglider and hiked around 300 metres in rugged terrain to reach her.
It's always a great day at work to rescue someone in need
- Inspector James Dalton
A roping system allowed the search and rescue squad to retrieve the woman by 8.40pm.
She was winched onboard a rescue helicopter and officers said she did not need medical treatment.
Inspector James Dalton said the rescue was complex.
"We had a paraglider stuck at height, in rugged terrain and on top of that strong wind made it challenging for the air crew," he said.

"Thankfully our highly skilled search and rescue police were able to get there as quickly as possible with assistance from the Air Wing.
