The 73-year-old victim called the police from inside the caravan after realising it was being towed away and a pursuit through Shepparton, Victoria, ensued.
Police urged anyone who sees a white Nissan Navara with the number plate 2BV 8VM to phone Triple-Zero immediately.
Towed away
The 73-year-old man woke up at 5.30am on March 18 to find that his caravan was being towed from his son's front yard on Broken River Drive in Shepparton.
Police said the unknown offenders drove to Bridewell Court and unhooked the van just as responding officers arrived.
The offenders sped off in the Nissan Navara and lost police when they crossed to the wrong side of the road, investigators said.
They were last seen heading east on Channel Road.
The 73-year-old was not physically injured.
Not the first
Checks of the Nissan Navara's number plates revealed that it had been stolen from Newport on February 25, police said.
The Navara was also allegedly used to tow a stolen caravan in Spotswood on March 6, was spotted during an alleged theft in Point Cook on March 8 and was allegedly used to steal a motorbike in Kensington on March 13.

Anyone who does see the Nissan is urged to contact Triple-Zero (000) immediately, police said.
Anyone with information on one of the incidents, including CCTV or dashcam footage is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
