Political leaders have paused their campaigns for the solemn day.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese attended the dawn service in Canberra, and Opposition Leader Peter Dutton attended the event in his home city of Brisbane.
The campaign pause comes as the latest YouGov polling shows Liberal Party support dropping to record lows and Labor leading the coalition by 53.5 per cent to 46.5 per cent on a two-party preferred basis.
