RACV ran the board in the Mozo People's Choice Awards which surveyed more than 4000 Australians about their insurance preferences.
RACV was included in five of the six categories for the first time: Outstanding Customer Satisfaction, Excellent Customer Service, Highly Trusted, Sign-Up Experience and Most Recommended.
Covermore Travel Insurance entered the leader board for the first year in the Excellent Claims Experience category, as did Fast Cover as the Most Recommended, and Tick Travel Insurance with the best Sign-Up Experience.
Southern Cross Travel Insurance was included in two categories: Outstanding Customer Satisfaction and Excellent Customer Service.
Mozo data director and People's Choice Awards adjudicator, AJ Duncanson, said customer sentiment in the travel insurance industry ebbs and flows and the winners list changes to reflect that.
"This year we saw Australia Post Travel Insurance win the Outstanding Customer Satisfaction award for the third year in a row, their commitment to their customer experience is commendable," Mr Duncanson said.
"We have seen Commonwealth Bank Travel Insurance collect an award for the second year running, a performance worthy of recognition."
Mr Duncanson said when choosing a travel insurance company, "people are generally looking for a good level of cover at an affordable price and confidence that should something go wrong they will get support and claims processed quickly".
"Sometimes that can be a big name brand they are already familiar with, or a brand that other customers say has supported them when they got into trouble," he said.
CHOICE said travel insurance was as essential when you go on holidays as your passport, sunscreen and a "cute holiday 'fit'", but not all insurers were created equal.
In its 2025 list of travel insurance policies to avoid, they named and shamed Flight Centre's Gold Travel Insurance and Silver Travel Insurance policies, 1 Cover's Medical Only policy, and PassportCard's Basic policy.

Flight Centre and 1 Cover came in with the lowest scores.
CHOICE rates the policies based on the value for money.
"The lowest-ranked policy in our comparison is a good example of why it pays to shop around. Flight Centre's Gold Travel Insurance policy provides good overall cover, but at some of the highest prices in the market," Choice said.
Of the 1 Cover policy that came in with the second-lowest ranking, they said: "This is a medical-only policy, which means it will only provide coverage for certain types of medical expenses, and not for other travel-related costs such as lost baggage or missed flights."
