A Far South Coast showground was covered in real snow after truck driver Barry Moffitt returned home from Perisher with two trailers full of it.

On Sunday, August 17, Candelo Showground hosted a Snow Day and Billy Cart Derby, with children and adults of all ages racing down the hill with laughs and smiles.
Although he expected to see close to 350 people attend, Mr Moffitt was amazed when closer to 1000 people participated in the Winter Wonderland event.
Mr Moffitt thanked Cooma Monaro Historic Automobile Club for helping to run the billy cart event, even though his granddaughter took a podium win and he missed out.
"It was a monster of a day and I couldn't have asked for a better day," the 71-year-old told Bega District News.
Joe Weller, who liaised with the automobile club, organised online ticketing and social media, said the event was a great success and injected close to $10,000 into the community.
"The money would be going towards the Candelo Showground, Kameruka Cricket Club, the tennis club, the swimming club, and the school P and C," Mr Weller said.
"From everyone setting up, like Daryl Moon doing the earthworks for the billy cart track and the snow, to everyone else playing their part, it was a good community event."
