The witness did not want to be identified, but has shared with ACM's Bega District News his account of Monday, October 6, about 1.47am.
"I was stumbling home from watching the grand final footy at my mate's place, and I popped out at the Glebe Park and a silver Commodore went screaming past me," the man said.
"I saw a guy running out of a building, and that car pulled up and stopped. That's when I knew something was going on.
"I pulled out my phone to record it, because I was like, 'What the f*** have I walked into?
"I kind of regret walking. I should have stayed for another beer."

The man said he was leaning against the concrete slab wall because he did not want to be involved in the incident and to keep out of view of those in the altercation.
He said he did not know what he was filming at the time and held his breath when he heard some "pretty wild screams".
"I heard a chainsaw starting up and revving, and that's when I was like, 'I definitely ain't walking through that'," he said.

"I [also] watched the car get smashed up. The altercation started, and then they obviously started smashing it. I could hear someone yell, 'I'm going to smash your car up now'.
"The [altercation] went pretty quick. A couple of minutes. I waited for it all to calm down, put my head down and kept walking because it was the shortest route home. Then called the police.
"The video went viral pretty quick, because I accidentally put it on my Snapchat story [as] I was quite intoxicated. I had to delete it from there, obviously."

On Monday, October 6, NSW Police issued a statement that emergency services were called to East Street in Bega after reports of a concern for welfare. Police discovered the body of a man in a park.
The dead male was believed to be Gordon Kessey, while a man in a critical but stable condition from the altercation was believed to be Ben Smith.
On Monday morning, forensic investigators were seen placing yellow evidence markers and brushing a silver Holden Commodore, while glass was seen on the road from damage to the car.

At Bega Police Station on Tuesday, October 7, South Coast Police District Chief Inspector Shane Jessep said he had seen a video shared online in which a chainsaw was produced.
Early rumours and reports suggested a chainsaw was responsible, and while a chainsaw was heard during the altercation, police ruled it out being the weapon that caused the injuries.
"I would like to reassure the community that we firmly believe a chainsaw has not been used to inflict any injuries, and the ongoing risk to the community is very low," Chief Inspector Jessep said.
"The deceased male suffered a number of stab wounds, as well as the male [in hospital] still undergoing treatment."
