Dion Lloyd remains in custody and is yet to enter a plea to charges of murder and wounding with intent to murder.
He, along with five co-accused, had their cases mentioned in Bega Local Court on Tuesday, March 10.
The court was told a brief of evidence was still being prepared with a "large delay due to its complex nature".
The local court magistrate, Doug Dick, said fresh charges for Lloyd, first heard by the court this week, made the situation even more "messy".

Lloyd has been charged with two counts of allegedly choking a person with the intent to commit an indictable offence and two charges of common assault. These matters were first mentioned in court this week.
Mr Dick told the court that what made the new charges "a bit messy" was the complainant was one of the murder co-accused.
While it was only the first time the charges had been mentioned in court, the police agreed to begin preparing their brief of evidence to try to keep all alleged matters together for the time being.
The court heard the briefs were to be provided by March 24, and the matters for all six of the co-accused were adjourned until April 14.
Along with Dion Lloyd, Benjamin Keith Robinson, Kody Lloyd, Litisha Mundy, Serkan Hosoglu and Tehata Horis Lewis Hapuku have all been charged with murder and wounding with intent to murder.
The charges relate to the stabbing death of former Nowra man Gordon Kessey, who was found by police on Bega's East Street in the early hours of Monday, October 6, 2025.
A second man was also found at the scene suffering stab wounds. He was treated at South East Regional Hospital and later discharged.
The court heard the NSW Director of Public Prosecutions' office was not yet instructed in the matters, but would likely be by the next occasion.
