KELLY Forrest has contributed to the community in diverse and rich ways. She was best known for her efforts in organising the inaugural The Rock B&S Ball.  However, during the Australia Day celebrations at Osborne the depth of her work in the community became truly apparent. She has lived at The Rock for eight years however, in that time has worked tirelessly for the Emily Gardens aged home and has also contributed significantly to the town’s progress association. A fellow resident from The Rock, Luke Mazzocchi, 12 was named sports person of the year. His achievements included accolades in a multitude of sports from team events to individual pursuits. He was recognised for his excellence in cross country running, triathlon and footy. In fact, he is known for regularly volunteering and helping out where needed at The Rock Yerong Creek Football Club. During his Australia Day address at Osborne Lockhart Shire Council deputy Mayor Greg Verdon described the region as one that was thriving. “We are punching above our weight in regards to current community projects,” Cr Verdon said.
