The new Tech Centre is set up with a launch monitor and three cameras linked to touch screen computers that analyse golf swings of all levels.
When participants take a ‘shot’ the new system provides information about the carry distance, spin rate, club face angle at impact, angle of attack, ball spin axis, club head speed and ball speed.
This can analyse golf swings that can be tailored into a customised training program that will substantially improve golfing abilities.
The unit is built in a hitting bay that is fully customised with state of the art lighting and TV monitors combined with the latest fitting software from all major manufacturers.
The new Technology Centre at Narooma Golf Club is one of only 14 in Australia and is the only one situated between Melbourne and Sydney.
“The interest among members has been phenomenal,” Narooma Golf Pro Colin Holmes said.
“The new technology will enable me to record a lesson, edit it and email it to the client,” he said.
Colin also said that he believed the bulk of coaching at the golf club will now be conducted in the new Tech Centre.
“This will allow me to tell and show players what is wrong with their game and how to fix it and also what equipment they will need to maximise their game,” Mr Holmes said.
General Manager of Narooma Golf Club, Dominic Connaughton said the club was very excited about the new Tech Centre in the Pro-Shop.
“It is great that the new Tech Centre is up and operational prior to the busy holiday period,” he said.
“I would like to thank the Club Professional, Colin Holmes for the construction costs of the new extensions and the installation of the brand new Tech Centre which is the only one south of Sydney down the coast to Melbourne.
“I would also like to thank Scot Ker, Bodgie Lee, Peter Kearney, Ben Ritchie and the Pro Shop staff for the many voluntary hours spent on making the centre a reality,” Mr Connaughton said.
Narooma golf club held its annual golf presentation day on Saturday. The day started out with a two person ambrose medley with about 120 starters. This was also a Captain’s versus President’s day with the Presidents teams being victorious.
This was followed by the golf presentations for the year with the main trophy winners being Sylvia Donohoe (ladies golf champion) and Scot Ker (men's golf champion). There was also two special awards on the day with the first was the presentation of a plaque to Sylvia Donohoe for her achievements over numerous years in golf winning seven Australian Women’s Senior Amateur championships and seven NSW Women’s Senior Championships.
“This is an amazing record for Narooma Golf Club and Sylvia was also recognised by the members golf lounge being named after her,” Mr Connaughton said.
“The second special award was the Club Member of the year award 2013 which was presented to Rod Shepherd for his numerous hours of voluntary work both on the golf course and clubhouse.
“His hard work and dedication along with his team have been much appreciated by the board, management and club members,” he said.
The Club provided a few drinks and some food and a great time was had by all who attended.
