Volunteer leader Lori Hammerton along with co-leader Cherie White presented the Cobargo class, (who have only been running since July this year,) with certificates for having completed the full course of Tai Chi for Arthritis parts one and two, at a gathering at the CWA hall Cobargo on Thursday, December 12.
Then on Thursday, December 19 the Bermagui group held an enjoyable Christmas get together following the final class for the year. These students, having completed the full Tai Chi for Arthritis forms one and two and Tai Chi for Diabetes form previously were presented with some funny photo cards and a wonderful morning tea.
Bega Valley Can Assist has benefited to the tune of $3215.60 since classes started in Bermagui in September 2011. The participants pay a gold coin donation to enter the classes. The CWA groups of both Cobargo and Bermagui donate the use of their hall as their contribution to Can Assist, and Southern Area Health cover all participant's insurance, allowing Lori to donate all money made to this worthy cause.
“We have a lot of fun and thoroughly enjoy ourselves at class as well as gaining huge health benefits for all who attend,” Lori said.
“The form that we teach is Dr Paul Lam's Sun style which is beneficial for muscle strength, balance and memory, and the camaraderie is just great.”
Lori thanks everyone who attends on a regular basis including husband Gerry who helps with the basic setting up and supports the other students with his dry sense of humour.
Both classes will restart in the New Year on Thursday, January 9, however if enough interest is shown a new beginners class may be started mid-January. For more information or to show interest phone Lori 6493 5909 or Cherie 6493 5989.
