Principal Tony Fahey said the 73 Year 7 students divided into three classes started their school year on Wednesday.
“They are settling in well – they have been smiling and all said they had a good day yesterday.
“The ones I spoke to said they all enjoyed their first day at high school.”
Liam Sweeney said was looking forward to having seven different teachers at high school while Cecilia Collum-Davies she had enjoyed meeting a lot more teachers and people.
The reality was school enrolment at Narooma High was declining slightly each year with an aging population in the Narooma district.
Meanwhile down at Narooma Public School, the Year 1s may be in familiar surroundings having completed Kindergarten last year, but they were still excited about starting the school year.
Principal Paul Sweeney said 47 Year 1 students started on Wednesday and while this was a little down on previous years, enrolments for this year’s Kindergarten class was up to 65 new students.
“We’re going to have three Kindergarten classes compared to two-and-a-half last year,” Mr Sweeney said.
The Kindy students had been at school this week doing one-on-one Best Start assessments, but would start in classes on Monday.
