WELL it time to work off the Christmas ham and pudding. We at Tuross are helping this by hosting the 2014 Senior District Pairs Championship and “No”; there is no truth in the rumour that you had to present your age Pension Card to play. This event attracted a lot of the top bowlers from around the district who signed up for the knockout event, which will run over three weekends. Saturday was the first day with 23 teams playing. The competition consisted of two rounds of 21 ends. Tuross Head had entered five teams, three of which were eliminated either in the first round or the afternoon second round.

The teams competing came from Dalmeny, Bodalla, Narooma, Moruya, Malua Bay, Tomakin and Tuross Head. The ability and level of bowling, was self- evident by the quality of the shots laid down, with some games resting on the last bowl to determine a winner. The competition could not have been held on a better day, although a little bit on the hot side. The first round saw seven teams eliminated and in the second round another six sides departed. This left eight teams to move onto the third round which is on February 8 at Tuross. The following teams will start at 9.30am on the eighth, J Monks (Tuross), V White (Malua Bay), C Hockins (Narooma), G Beves (Bodalla), G Piper (Moruya), P Liberale (Malua Bay), D Ebsworth (Malua Bay) and P Pisanos (Dalmeny). It was also pleasing to see the number of supporters who turned up to give their support to all of the players.
