ON Wednesday, April 9 Narooma Public competed in the State Tennis Knockout against Batemans Bay Primary at the Hanging Rock courts.
The expected close competition was evident in the five sets to three win to Narooma with games tally being 34 to 33.
In the boys’ single matches AJ Foster was a clear winner 6 – 2. Jarrod Manton competed well against his opponent but lost after some great rallies. Both the girls’ singles matches were hard battles. Unfortunately Sophie Foster was beaten but Jemma Laurie fought back from 2 - 5 down to eventually win 7 – 5 with all her games going to deuce. It was a fantastic effort.
In the boys’ and girls’ doubles Narooma had convincing wins and again all matches had great serving, long rallies and some amazing winning shots. The mixed doubles matches gave a win to both schools. Chelsea Laurie played well with Jarrod and Sophie and AJ teamed up with their last match a win to ensure Narooma was victorious on the day. Thanks to Batemans Bay Public for such great competition and sportsmanship. A special thanks goes to Stacey Hall for again assisting with transport.
