NEW South Wales is still rocking from Premier Barry O'Farrell announcing his intention to resign.
Many MPs have been keeping their own counsel but here are some reaction from across the state.
Cessnock MP Clayton Barr: “It’s disappointing. This type of behaviour labels all politicians regardless of their position in parliament.”
Kiama MP Gareth Ward: ‘‘It would be very easy for me to take advantage of Barry’s demise, but the reality is that today the premier held himself to the same standards he applied to others and in public life that is a rarity."
Swansea MP Garry Edwards: "It comes as an enormous shock. I think the government – our government – has done a great job over the last three years. Not all the decisions we’ve made have been easy decisions – some have been very difficult.’’
Oxley MP Andrew Stoner: Media spokesman Blake Hardy told the Port News Deputy Premier Mr Stoner will not return from a trade mission in south-east Asia until Thursday evening and would not be in a position to comment on Mr O'Farrell's resignation until then.
Member for Gilmore Ann Sudmalis: The Liberal federal MP praised Mr O’Farrell, saying “he’s pulled NSW back together” and was a “good, honest representative” who stood by his word.
A trio of South Coast politicians have paid tribute to the leadership of Barry O'Farrell. Member for South Coast Shelley Hancock, Member for Kiama Gareth Ward and Member for Heathcote Lee Evans issued a joint statement.

► Member for Dubbo and Parliamentary Secretary for Natural Resource Troy Grant has been contacted by the Daily Liberal for comment on the resignation of Premier Barry O'Farrell. He has failed to return the Daily Liberal's phone calls this morning. However, Dubbo volunteer Andrew McKay, who received a NSW Government Community Service Award from Barry O’Farrell. “It’s a bit of a shock,” Mr McKay said. “I found him to be someone who was passionate about NSW. He came across as a very charismatic person.”
► Member for the federal electorate of Parkes Mark Coulton: "I'm saddened that Barry O'Farrell will no longer be the NSW Premier," he said. "I think he has done a good job. I believe Barry O'Farrell will be missed by the people of NSW."
