Don't dis Sophie's riding ability

NAROOMA High student and disabled horse rider Sophie Wintle and fellow riders Brydie Rugendyke and Renee Lavis travelled to Jindabyne last Thursday to compete for four days at the Snowy Mountains Grammar Schools Inter-schools Equestrian Competition.

This event has been running for the last 15 years but this year was the first year that a disabled rider has competed.

Sophie competed in the assisted division doing novelty events, riding class and the ultimate inter-schools horse challenge.

Renee and Brydie were both very successful in the Year 11 division in sporting, show-jumping, dressage, stockman’s challenge and riding and hack classes.

Sophie has had a special saddle handmade for her by Phil Elton at the Tilba Leather shop, which enables Sophie to sit independently in the saddle.
