Playstation skipper Nick Cowley said they ventured out to the seamounts off Narooma until they found the albies.
On board both boats were punters from Canberra and there were multiple hook-ups with pretty much everybody bringing in a fish.
But then a few started complaining of sea-sickness so the trip was called off short, which was a shame according to Nick as the albacore could have easily been cubed up to the surface and caught on fly or jig.
He did hear of some bigger model yellowfin tuna up to 50kg being caught by other boats on Thursday.
Darryl Bond from the Narooma Ocean Hut Compleat Angler showed us the sea-surface charts and is of the view that the tuna are feeding on the temperature differential line that is quite close to shore off Narooma and Bermagui at the moment.
He reckons the tuna would be to the south as the hot water swirls around from the north and the tuna search out the baitfish where the cold and hot currents run into each other.
And as far as the bluefin tuna go, Darryl reckons we haven’t even seen them yet but that they could start showing up off the Far South Coast any day now.
