Narooma was proudly represented by the combined Narooma/Bodalla Youth Girls team who have enjoyed a successful season and went into the match against top-of-the-table Moruya with high hopes of winning the trophy. Throughout this competitive game the two sides were very evenly pitched. The first drama came inside the first 10 minutes when Moruya were awarded a penalty which was brilliantly saved by goalie, Ashley Walpole. The battle continued to another penalty, this time for Narooma, again not scored. The deadlock was broken when Moruya scored but Narooma fought back to even the score at half time. The teams were so closely matched, the stalemate continued through the second half and all the way through extra time. It went to a tense penalty shootout to find a winner. It was Moruya who emerged victorious, 3 goals to 1, but congratulations girls on an outstanding season.
The U13s final between Batemans Bay and Broulee saw the biggest win of the day with Broulee striking home 8 goals to Bay's nil.
Next up were the All Age Ladies with Clyde facing Moruya. This game was settled in normal time by one goal scored by Clyde.
Local interest again in the Youth Boys final with Bodalla playing Moruya Blues. Another keenly fought match and well supported from the sidelines, that saw Bodalla go ahead two goals early on and Moruya fighting back strongly. Bodalla kept their composure and came out on top, winning 3 - 2. An excellent game that fully represented the competitive season of football in this age group.
Finally the All Age Men kicked off, with Bodalla facing Clyde. Season honours and the cup went to Bodalla who won 2 - 1.
Congratulations to all finalists; it was good to see wins spread around the clubs.
Thanks to Judy Shoesmith and Sue Kinsey from Eurobodalla Football Association for their organisation of the day and their work throughout the season. Thanks also to the referees on the day, to Graham Tasker for presenting the field so well throughout the season and to the volunteers in the canteen.
The Junior Club Presentation Day is at Dalmeny on October 26.
