Well done to the organisers of the ninth Narooma BoatsAfloat traditional boats festival who again put on a great little event bringing visiting boaters to town.

Maybe it was the weather, but the Narooma bridge and boardwalk seemed particularly packed with spectators enjoying the spectacle of the grand parade on Sunday morning.
I think all those watching secretly would like to own their own putt-putt boat so they could be on our beautiful waters on a regular basis.
Speaking of events, Narooma Chamber of Commerce president Orit Karny Winters was up at the SouthEast Harvest Festival in Moruya trying to get gardening guru Costa Georgiadis to come down to the Narooma Oyster Festival, that next year will take on a green theme with attempts to minimise waste and an emphasis on low-food miles local produce.
Good luck to the organisers as there seems to be some new and interesting ideas – so stay tuned!
The rate variation debate continues as can be seen by the front page and in the mayor’s column.
There also seemed to be an increase in discussion on sea level rise and planning restrictions.
It does seem that many of the voices out there speaking out have some development or real estate connection – frustrated by the restrictions no doubt.
The science says sea level rise is happening and so we do need to be prepared and take into account a changing environment and council would be irresponsible if it were to ignore the science.
