Club general manager Dominic Connaughton said it was great night with around 80 attending.
“There were lots of prizes won and great items auctioned and on behalf of the board of directors we want to thank everyone who showed up and also to those who donated items for the raffles and auction,” he said.
The golf club office, bar and course staff also volunteered their time for the fundraising night.
Guests Ian Shubert, former rugby league player for the Roosters and Australian representative, and Kevin “Cowboy” Neale, former AFL star for the Saint Kilda Club, were very well received and Don Mosley from the 2GB Ray Hadley Continuous Call Crew in Sydney did a great job as MC.
Golf club president Geoff Lanham in his welcoming speech on the night thanked everyone for coming, but noted it was disappointing not to see more of the club’s regular golfers attending as the bridge replacement was vital to the course and the club.
Among the top items in the auction was the six-panel solar home kit donated by keen golfer Cameron Rowley of Narooma Electrics that went for just over $2000.
Also raising more than $1000 each was a big Anzac Day-themed photograph of troops on an Egyptian pyramid donated by Cowboy Neale and also the Lynwood Country Club package of 18 holes for four golfers including a master class by Paul Gow.
The club is now working on the Development Application with the Eurobodalla Shire Council and the contract for the new bridge construction, expected to cost around $200,000, had been awarded.
Work was expected to begin next month with the course unfortunately expected to be limited to nine holes during the five to six-week construction period.
The fundraising continues at Narooma Golf Club with the NSW Cancer Council charity golf day scheduled for this Friday, May 8. Find out more and register here!
The Lions Club will be selling lunch on the green as a fundraiser for the day, with proceeds to Cancer Council NSW’s fight against cancer. Options will include fresh salad rolls with either roast beef or ham, simple burgers and sausage sandwiches.
Golfers will be able to place their order with our roving waitresses to ensure that no matter which hole they are playing, they can still enjoy their lunch during the game!
After the game has finished, participants will enjoy an afternoon tea upstairs at the Club, with light refreshments and an auction with some fantastic items up for grabs – like the Whale Watching tour for two people, donated by Norm at Narooma Charters!
Tickets available from the golf club, 1 Ballingalla Street, Narooma or call 4476 2522.
