8.20AM: Something from further afield... Former Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson said he has "a large hole which needs to be filled" since he was dumped by the BBC for assaulting a producer. Speaking on BBC Radio 2 in his first interview since his departure, Clarkson said the "fracas" was his "own silly fault". Full story
8.17AM: Here's another heartwarming story for you this morning this time from Batemans Bay... This is a story of the gift of a kidney, but also a tale of the heart. In 2004, Bawley Point’s David Wood saw the doctor for a routine prescription. Despite suffering diabetes for 35 years, David “felt fantastic” and was active and healthy. But when the doctor took his blood pressure, the news was dire. “It was about 240 over 130,” David said. Read what happened

8.05AM: Meanwhile still up on the Monaro... Residents are in shock after one man was shot dead and the body of another was found in a car on Friday morning in Nimmitabel. Residents awoke on Friday to a heavy police presence in town with officers establishing crime scenes at Boyd Street and Kirke Street following the deaths of two men. As police continued with their investigations throughout the day, a number of residents spoke of their shock at the morning's proceedings. Full story
8.02AM: Meanwhile up at Bombala... A man will appear in court on May 19 over several alleged firearm and driving offences in Creewah. About 5.15pm on Monday, May 18 police from Monaro Local Area Command responded to reports of a loud argument and several shots allegedly fired, at a property on Narrowness Road. Read more
8AM: Midnight rampage!!!! Eden business owners are sweeping up glass and shaking their heads after a mysterious midnight rampage left several businesses damaged on Sunday night. “Eden Police are investigating a series of break and enters, and malicious damage, that occurred over the weekend of May 16 and 17 in the commercial area,” Senior Constable David Bates confirmed. 7.57AM: The Bundian Way - an ancient Aboriginal pathway linking Twofold Bay with the Snowy Mountains - is winding its way on to national television. In February this year, a film team from The Australian Geographic Adventures television show were taken into the high country by Aboriginal Elder, Uncle Ossie Cruse and local historian, John Blay. Their destination; the treacherous upper reaches of the Bundian Way. Their mission; to document the millions of bogong moths that gather each summer in the mountain’s crevices. Read more

7.50AM: Here is the dangerous surf warning - Surf Life Saving NSW is advising rock fishers, swimmers, surfers, and boaties to be mindful of a strong southerly swell expected along the NSW coastline over the next two days. The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a dangerous surf warning which will be in effect on Friday May 22 and Saturday May 23. The warning is in place for the coast line between Gabo Island on the NSW-Victorian border and Port Macquarie on the state’s Mid-North Coast. Read more
7.47AM: Legal action over the Orion Beach shared pathway is being considered by a number of Vincentia residents. The residents sought legal advice, believing they would be impacted by the path being within six metres of their houses. Sandy Easterbrook is fighting the Orion Beach shared pathway’s location, for which a tender was awarded on Tuesday. Full story
7.45AM: CRIME ALERT! Cars and houses in Sunshine Bay and Batehaven at Batemans Bay were targeted by thieves this week. During Thursday morning a car was broken into at a caravan park on Beach Road, Batehaven. The thieves got away with a wallet containing cash, a driver’s licence and a bankcard. In Sunshine Bay, between Tuesday evening and Mon-day morning, a house in Dampier Place was broken into while the occu-pants were asleep. The thieves entered through a door and stole an iPad, iPod, cash and wetsuits. Another house in Sunshine Bay was robbed while occupied on Tuesday evening.A handbag, a wallet, cash and a wetsuit were taken. A small amount of cash was also taken from a Nissan X-Trail parked in the driveway of a home in Sunshine Bay. Police have forensically examined each house and car. Anyone who notices suspicious behaviour in their neighborhood is asked to report it to local police on 4472 0099 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
7.40AM: Here is a heart-warming story from Kiama. Betty Spilsted has rescued almost 1200 injured pelicans in the past five years. Last Friday, she made a midnight dash to Kiama for a bird injured in one of the most distressing acts of animal cruelty she had seen. The small female was found wandering along Riverside Drive - hundreds of metres from the nearest water - heavily concussed, and blinded from blood gushing from a head wound. A passing motorist called Ms Spilsted, a member of Australian Seabird Rescue. "She had a big wound between her eyes, dripping blood down her beak and down the back of her throat," Ms Spilsted said. "I thought she was blind permanently, but luckily that was not the case."

WEATHER:
