THE strong numbers at the Narooma Numnutz winter swimming club continued with 24 swimmers taking to the water on Sunday morning for the third swim of the season.
And this follows a record 35 swimmers for the Numnutz’ opening swim two weeks ago.
The Narooma swimmers on Sunday jumped in at the Bar Beach southern breakwater and using the last of an outgoing tide, swam across the length of the beach to the shark net and back.
The outgoing tide meant the water was a relatively cool but still quite pleasant 17 degrees compared to the open ocean water.
Joining the swimmers was a contingent from Wagga Wagga, regular visitors to Narooma and the Numnutz.
The swimmers then all retired to O’Briens Hotel and the Raw Prawn Bistro for a hearty pea and ham soup.
The Narooma winter swimmers meet every Sunday during the cold months at the south end of Bar Beach at 9am sharp.
Swimmers of all ages, shapes and abilities most welcome!

Bermagui Blue Balls blossom
A recent recruitment drive in Sydney has improved the Bermagui Blue Balls attendance numbers by more than 15 per cent.
Ken Wright, former Wallaby, Roosters RL and surf lifesaving state representive, slapped on the sluggos and joined the band of merry men and women at Horseshoe Bay on Sunday morning.
Ken’s surf clubs achievements include state titles in Beach Flags and Mouth to Mouth.
His darling wife Cathy, a former miss Glamarrama, commented: “I was first drawn to Ken by his uncanny anticipation and smooth finish”.
Water temperature was again around 20 degrees making the swim very enjoyable.
The day was as always enriched with the involvement of Elizabeth Johnson who not only went stroke for stroke with the blokes, but produced another tray of her delicious blue rum balls.
Next week the Blue Balls are traveling up north to join big brother Narooma Numnutz.
The bus will be leaving the Bermagui Surf club at 8.15am Sunday morning.
