Full weekend report and results:
A good time was had by all at the second annual ReBoot in Bermagui. Record number of competitors in the fun runs and the swim. The ReBoot Tug-o-War was a huge success with local girls team Love2Bfit Bermagui winning the female Tug-o-War and the girls from Clarke Law were runners Up. The Male ReBoot Tug-o-War was won by ‘Goulburn Jail’, a group of lads from the ACT (not actually Goulburn Jail) with runners up the Sydney Boys.
In the fun runs, the premier running event was dominated by Bermagui locals Mick Whalan 1st and Mick Butterfield 3rd, with Max Lynch from Albury coming 2nd. Female local favourite Kate Butterfield came in second behind Tammy Farrell from Canberra with another visitor Lisa Bennett from Panania third. In the Tilba Rd to Town run, Keith Law from Bemboka won for the 2nd time in a very fast time of 19.44, Nicholas Carter from Dalmeny was 2nd and Will Cunningham was 3rd. The female winner was the Bega Valley Pocket Rocket, Stephanie Austin followed by local girl and Bega lawyer Dixie Fitzclarence with Caitlin Shiell from Armstrong Creek in Victoria in 3 rd place.
In the ocean swim across Horseshoe bay Popular local Millie Boyle blitzed it, coming out of the water overall first (the boys are still getting over it!), Joann Rutherford (a Bermagui girl now from Sydney) was 2nd and
Jodie Boylan also from Sydney and in Bermagui as a producer of the River Cottage program was third. Sam Watson took out first for the men, Josh Baker and Andrew Reichel both from the Albury area took out 2nd and 3rd respectively.
The overall ReBoot champion based on highest point score combined in the swim and fun run was one by Sam Watson as the Male ReBooter of 2015 and Joann Rutherford as the Female ReBooter of 2015.
Organisers thanked the Bermagui Fishermens Co-Op for their generous donation of $1000 which was used for marketing and prize money and Horizon Credit Union for sponsorship of the Kids Fun Run and the participation of Horizons Howie – who ran a very fast time by the way - for a bear that is!
