In my final column as Mayor for this term, I would to take this opportunity to thank my fellow councillors, council staff, and members of the community with whom I’ve had the privilege to work.

I would also like to thank the State and Federal local members who have supported many of the initiatives we have taken together for the benefit of the Eurobodalla community.
Over the last four years we have successfully obtained $69.2 million in NSW and Australian Government grants for a range of projects like bridge replacements, new roads and upgraded boat ramps.
We’ve won 22 national and state awards for programs ranging from environment to heritage to tourism. We’ve delivered $122.6 million of capital works, building and upgrading roads, streetscaping, paths, boardwalks, boat ramps, playgrounds, parks, public toilets, halls, sports grounds and other facilities for the community.
All of this has come about as a result of strong advocacy and working together co-operatively.
Last year Eurobodalla was assessed as being fit to govern as a stand-alone council under the NSW Government’s Fit for the Future program.
Our performance was measured against indicators relating to financial sustainability, infrastructure and service management, and efficiency.
Only 37 per cent of councils in New South Wales were able to achieve this.
The Rural Lands Strategy was completed, bringing certainty for land holders.
Buying the former Batemans Bay Bowling Club site opens up unique opportunities for an exceptional development at our northern gateway, and the NSW and Australian governments are making the right noises about our funding requests for the infrastructure and commercial space we want to build at Moruya Airport.
It’s been an exciting and productive four years.
Eurobodalla is a fantastic place to live and work and collectively we have made a difference.
Mayor Lindsay Brown
