Jack McCaughtrie, who attends Narooma Public School, was recently invited to attend a Japan Karate Association (JKA) training camp at Lake Cullulleraine, Mildura.

While he was there to train with other JKA students from interstate, Jack was asked to attempt his 1st Dan Black Belt grading, which he agreed to.
After two-and-a-half hours of being assessed by a panel of judges he was awarded his 1st Dan Black Belt in JKA Karate. Congratulations Jacks!
Jack is only 11 years old and has been training for five years to reach this goal. Jack trains at Bermagui Dojo under instructor Chris McKechnie, 3rd Dan.
