He started at the camp on Monday, February 6 and stays there until Saturday, February 11. He will be participating training sessions, various activities and also meet and train with the first-grade indigenous All Stars, getting to watch them and train in front of them.
Marcus is a well-known footy player here in Narooma and along the Far South Coast. He has played with the Narooma Devils since under 7s and has played representative football for his school, town and now state.
Not only has Marcus been selected in the indigenous squad but he has also been selected in the training squad for Stingrays Group 16 team.
“This is the first representative indigenous football game I’ve ever played and it’s one of the biggest highlights of my footy career,” he said. “I am very proud to be selected and playing for the indigenous NSW team.”
His family wishes him good luck in his big game next Thursday, as well as the selection to the Stingrays team in a few weeks and for the years to come in his future football career.
Marcus would like to thank his family, most of all his dad, for all their support and effort they put into his footy.
“My dad takes me to my training and footy games and I wouldn’t be going places if it wasn’t for him.”
He would love to joins the ranks of the NRL one day and his dream would be to play First Grade for the Parramatta Eels.
The Narooma Devils meanwhile have started training and are still looking for coaches for various teams.
