If you love dogs then Bermagui was the place to be as more than 600 dogs and their owners descended on Dickinson Oval on the weekend.
The action continues this Wednesday with the Rally Obedience Trials.
Big dogs, small dogs; hairy dogs, smooth dogs, puppies and older dogs all gathered at Bermagui for the Bega Valley Kennel and Obedience Club’s annual All Breeds Championship Shows and Obedience Trials.
Kicking off on Saturday and continuing on until Monday, February 13 purebred dogs of all types were on display from 8am each day followed by the obedience dogs going through their paces in the evenings from 7pm.
The pooches came from all over Australia and the world to compete in this much loved event.
If you are unable to get to the Bermagui sportsground to catch some of the action then keep Wednesday, February 15, free for the Sapphire Coast Kennel & Obedience Club, and the Bega Valley Kennel Club’s Rally Obedience Trials – one in the morning and one in the evening.
Rally Obedience is a newer, less formal type of dog trial – where handlers and dogs follow a course, with each action or “station” printed on a sign. Handlers are encouraged to praise and encourage their dogs during their round and most dogs seem to enjoy this type of competition.
